I am a firm believer of the fact that the music that a person listens to is a mirror into their innermost trepidations and longings. It is an insight into their brain; an oracular glance into their helplessly opaque soul. People have a heartless and cruel habit of attaching themselves emotionally to a song to such a huge extent that they feel a nagging and lingering sense of dismay when others don’t approve of their playlist. I have felt these similar pangs of disappointment when a kid in my class came up to me and told me that “he thought I listened to better music”.

I think it is basic human instinct to bestow an overly critical eye upon the very notion of “change”. We aren’t adaptable to transition; we prefer sticking to stagnancy and an unsurprising turn of events. We flinch at innovation and the concept of modernization. Our brains are set in unison; almost like a cycle of staggering repetition and our eager and expectant ears can bear nothing but parallel rhythms of the usualness. By Yamini Gaur
Someone once pointed out to me that there exist mainly two types of people in the world: the ones who listen to Pink Floyd and the ones who feel it. By Yamini Gaur
The 1960s fell pretty heavy on the shoulders of parents worldwide as their daughters began to swoon to the throaty treble of Elvis Presley’s voice. The 1960’s bore down even more heavily as their sons began to gyrate relentlessly in the same opulent fashion with their hair swept back by awfully huge amounts of gel. By Aman Mittal
There was once a table full of opinionated people with whom I was conversing and the topic of music came around. I write about music not because it is nonchalantly easy, far from it but because my boss likes it. My boss and my colleagues think that music is an essential part of life and today I am going to write about two of the best songs doing the rounds – Chaar Botal Vodka and Babydoll. To begin with some astounding stats about the stars of the songs : By Aman Mittal The year ends and what a year it has been. When it comes to music we saw a lot of albums, singles, performances come and go. In a year when DJ Hardwell became the no. 1 DJ and Metallica played a concert in Antarctica. Funny how time goes by. So this time I bring to you a list of the top rated albums by users and even critic scores as seen on http://www.albumoftheyear.org . Pretty awesome site for all music lovers. It gave me immense help in compiling this and presenting it in an ordered format. Feel free to comment with your favourite music/album for this year and check out some of the ones mentioned here. ACCORDING TO USER RATING 1. Arcade Fire - Reflektor Released: October 29th, 2013 Genre: Indie Rock 2. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City Released: May 14th, 2013 Genre: Indie Rock 3. Darkside - Psychic Released: October 8th, 2013 Genre: Art Pop By Aman Mittal Metallica are considered as one of the best heavy metal bands to have taken the stage and I am sure everyone reading this knows at least one song from them. If you don’t, it is a shame. Get your music priorities straight cause you have evaded the greatness of a band. Here I am conjuring up something about their much debated and controversial album “ The Black Album” . Probably for me, I did not realize it until sometime back that it was ‘this’ disheartening for the thrash fans of Metallica out there, that this particular album, they went a bit slow and it was labeled a sell-out album. For me, and I am sure for most of us, it was one of their best albums giving us singles like the ballad ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and ‘Enter Sandman’ . If you scrutinize the albums that came before this, for example, Master of Puppets, this was rather low key and it is understandable that fans who were following the band were upset. For me, it was much later than its release that I was listening to Metallica and then covering their songs on the guitar. Mind you, that being said, the tracks from this particular album were relatively easier to cover for they were not as fast and followed a symmetrical arrangement of riffs that didn’t change much throughout the songs. |
